It’s May the Fourth: Happy Star Wars Day 2026 from MovieFanFare!

 

Sure, the literary crowd comes out to salute James Joyce and Ulysses on Bloomsday every June. And Seinfeld aficionados will put up an aluminum pole and air their grievances each December for Festivus. But when it comes to pop culture holidays, nothing tops May the Fourth. Today is being celebrated around the world–and maybe in galaxies far, far away– as Star Wars Day by fans of the iconic sci-fi saga. With a new feature film, The Mandalorian and Grogu, coming to theaters later this month, it’s a great time to look back at nearly a half-century of extraterrestrial heroism, villainy, and derring-do.
