Memorial Day Greetings from MovieFanFare

Today is the last Monday in May, which means it’s also Memorial Day. First observed in 1868, shortly after the Civil War, this nationwide annual event honors members of the U.S. military who fought, and sometimes died, defending America and the ideals of liberty and human dignity. To many the holiday weekend means vacations, picnics, and unofficial start of summer. But we hope you will take a moment to reflect upon the heroism of those men and women who gave their all in the cause of freedom.

For movie buffs, Memorial Day is also a time for movie marathons and TV binging. What will you be viewing today? Does your war film watchlist include recent conflicts (The Hurt Locker), Vietnam (Platoon), World War II (Band of Brothers), or something from the distant past (300)? Or do you look to outer space for military action (Starship Troopers)? Tell us about your top Memorial Day choices in the comments below. And if you get the chance, be sure to thank a veteran today.
