Happy Friday the 13th! Share Your Memories of the Frightful Film Franchise With Us!

Today is Friday the 13th, a day that the superstitious fear and movie lovers adore. Since 1980, the Friday the 13th film series has spawned numerous sequels, an underappreciated TV series, a team-up film with Freddy Krueger, a 2009 remake, and merchandise aplenty. Although never a critical success, the murderous film saga surrounding Jason Voorhees’ relentless desire to slaughter innocent campers has rung a persistent chord with moviegoers who just can’t get enough of his bloodlust. (Personally, this writer is a fan of the ultra-ridiculous 2002 effort, Jason X — in which the hockey-masked maniac continues his murderous ways aboard a space station….no, seriously).

For this weekend’s Open Thread, we want you to discuss all things Friday the 13th in the comments. Tell us about your favorite/least favorite entries in the franchise, share with us your moviegoing memories of catching these fright flicks in the theater, and generally share with us why you love (or loathe) Jason. We can’t wait to hear what you have to say on the subject. Chh-chh-chh! Ahh-ahh-ahh!
