1976 was a memorable year in cinema. While America celebrated its bicentennial, moviegoers rooted for heroic sports underdogs, intrepid Washington Post reporters, and troubled New York cabbies. They saw the first Stephen King film and the final efforts from Alfred Hitchcock and John Wayne. They even learned how to go to their window, open it, stick their head out, and yell “I’m as mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore!”
This week’s poll salutes the movies of 1976 and asks you to pick which film was your favorite. We’ve whittled the list of titles down to 20 (sorry, all you Won Ton Ton: The Dog Who Saved Hollywood fans), so let us know in the comments if your top choice didn’t make the cut.
