Share Your Angela Lansbury Memories Here

It’s a sad day for the entertainment world. Angela Lansbury, the London-born actress and singer whose career spanned from the 1940s to the 2020s, has died at the age of 96 (just five days short of her 97th birthday). Arguably best known for her long-running performance of mystery writer/crime solver Jessica Fletcher on Murder, She Wrote, Lansbury was also no stranger to theater audiences (where she racked up multiple Tony Award wins and delivered definitive portrayals in shows ranging from Mame to Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. On the silver screen, her film roles ranged from studied character roles in everything from Gaslight (her film debut) to The Manchurian Candidate to her voice role of Mrs. Potts in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. A Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire, she was acclaimed, awarded and generally beloved by critics and fans alike. Although she lived a full life and leaves behind a peerless legacy, Lansbury’s passing is another example of acting loyalty fading into history.
