The Twilight Zone or The Outer Limits?

Submitted for your approval: Two 1960s science fiction anthology series that not only left a seismic impact on popular culture but helped chart the course of television history. Both The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits used fantastical storytelling techniques to tell very human stories, working as both cautionary tales and a glimpse into the potential of mankind. Whereas The Twilight Zone, spearheaded by creator/host Rod Serling, gravitated towards morality tales with twist endings, The Outer Limits tended to veer in the direction of mind-blowing science fiction stories. (Harlan Ellison‘s second season effort “Demon with a Glass Hand” being an especially creative effort).

To be clear, both shows are legendary, and more than worthy of the acclaim that has been thrust upon them over the years. But just as some folks prefer The Brady Bunch over The Partridge Family, others enjoy one of these iconic sci-fi series more than the other. So tell us, which show is your favorite and why? And be sure to discuss your favorite episodes and moments from The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits in the comments!

We now return control of your television set to you…
