Happy Labor Day from MovieFanFare!

Today is the first Monday in September, which here in the U.S. means it’s also Labor Day. Since becoming a federal holiday in 1894, the day has been a nationwide comemmoration of the labor movement and its members, whose work has contributed to the country’s growth and prosperity.

Of course, in modern times (no pun intended), Labor Day has also come to mark the unnoficial end of summer, a time when many people get a chance to take a break from their jobs. Some relax at the beach, some have picnics with friends and family, and some–like us here at MovieFanFare–use the day off to catch up on our film watching. Often, that includes films about the working experience, whether it’s in a factory (Modern Times), a shipping dock (On the Waterfront), a clothing manufacturer (The Pajama Game), an auto plant (Blue Collar), a convenience store (Clerks), or a fashion magazine (The Devil Wears Prada).

While we’re taking today off, we’d like to wish all our readers a happy and stress-free Labor Day. In the meantime, if you’d like to take a moment and tell us about your favorite workplace-related movies in the comments below, we’d love to hear them.
