Today’s Movie Trailer of the Day is for 1981’s madcap military comedy Stripes. If for some reason you haven’t seen this (which is kind of inexcusable, as it is brilliant), a quick synopsis: Bill Murray plays a down-on-his-luck loser who decides to be all that he can be by joining the Army. Enlisting the help of his teacher friend Harold Ramis, he quickly discovers that he isn’t ready for the military almost as much as the military isn’t ready for him.
The original theatrical trailer gives away too many of the film’s big laughs (and doesn’t feature nearly enough John Candy), but those small gripes aside it clearly illustrates just why Stripes is considered one of the best comedies of the 1980s. And that’s a fact, Jack!
