You’re Gonna Love “Yor: The Hunter from the Future”

Stone-Age thrills mix with Space-Age action in this exciting fantasy saga, culled from a four-part miniseries that originally aired on Italian TV. Join Yor, a warrior from a primitive society, as he embarks on a dangerous quest to learn the truth about his mysterious past, battling dinosaurs and encountering a strange futuristic island controlled by the evil Overlord and his android army. Reb Brown, Corinne Cléry, John Steiner star.

Inspired by an obscure comic book, this film was a production between Italy, France, and Turkey and made over $2,000,000 when it hit U.S. theaters in February of 1983 — one of a swarm of movies that cashed in on the popularity of sci-fi and fantasy stories that were in vogue at the time. Starring as the titular Yor was Reb Brown, an actor best known among fans of discerning cult cinema for portraying Captain America in two 1970s TV films. Much like Flash Gordon, Yor: The Hunter from the Future is a campy and creative flick filled with entertaining sequences — which is why it’s reputation as an incredibly fun B-movie has only grown in the years since its original release.

Mill Creek Entertainment has just released a 35th anniversary edition of the film that includes audio commentary from Brown. It’s a perfect leave your brain at the door flick to enjoy on a lazy afternoon…or anytime really!
