Throwback Thursday: The Most Underrated Song from “The Muppet Movie”

“There’s not a word yet for old friends who’ve just met. Part heaven, part space, or have I found my place?”

As amazing as “The Rainbow Connection” is, The Muppet Movie is full of songs that are equally evocative and fantastic. Case in point, “I’m Going to Go Back There Someday.” Sung by Gonzo (Dave Goelz) as the Muppets spend the night in a desert during their journey to become rich and famous in Hollywood, the tune is a haunting ode to wanderlust. It’s been said that the song sounds like homesickness, and for the lovers and dreamers who have been enjoying it for 40 years, it remains an instant time capsule to a simpler time. In other words, it proves that you can indeed hold onto love like invisible strings.
