R.I.P. “Animal House” and “St. Elsewhere” Co-Star Stephen Furst

We are saddened to hear of the passing of character actor great Stephen Furst, who has died at the age of 63 due to complications from diabetes. Furst was best known for his roles as Flounder in Animal House, Dr. Elliot Alexrod on the acclaimed NBC medical series St. Elsewhere, and Vir Cotto on the syndicated sci-fi series Babylon 5. Throughout his decades-spanning career, he worked steadily in film and television (including reprising his most iconic role on the Animal House spin-off TV series, Delta House, and he also worked behind the scenes as a producer and director. Outside of showbiz, he was a tireless advocate for raising awareness about diabetes and heart disease, and was generally considered to be one of the most kind and selfless figures in the entertainment industry. Stephen Furst will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched and the countless fans he leaves behind.
