Poll: What’s Your Favorite Gene Hackman Performance?


A true everyman, the great Gene Hackman had a career spanning over 50 years before he retired from acting in 2004 to focus on writing novels. His impressive legacy features iconic roles such as Popeye Doyle in The French Connection, Lex Luthor in the original Superman movies and Rupert Anderson in Mississippi Burning (among many others). Given the length and range of his career, he has played so many memorable characters that we want know which of his performances is your favorite for this week’s poll.

    There’s way too many great roles. I voted for the Coach in Hoosiers simply because it hadn’t received a vote yet. But I also like him in Mississippi Burning and The French Connection. And he was a hoot as Lex Luthor.

    i remember seeing that in the theatre as a double-bill (remember those?) with ‘chinatown’…

    can you even imagine those two movies together for less than what it costs for a bag of popcorn at the movies today…those were the days…
