Six Pix: Honest Abe

Six Pix presents a sextet of movie posters representing a particular actor/director/genre. You pick the one you feel is visually the most artistic or best sums up the film.

Six of sixteen; that is to say, a half dozen movie posters of America’s 16th president.

Honest Abe

Included are: Abraham Lincoln (1930); Young Mr. Lincoln (1939); Abe Lincoln in Illinois (1940); The Conspirator (2010); Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012); and Lincoln (2012).

Henry Fonda, Walter Huston, Raymond Massey, Daniel Day-Lewis…some heavyweights actors all portraying Lincoln here in films ranging from awful to so-so to magnificent. But it’s not about the acting or the movie itself here, is it? No, this is all about the art of the poster. And while there is quite the diversity in style and tone in these one-sheets there is one that stands above the rest. Though it may pain me to say it, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is that poster.

Which one do you think is the winner? Should I have included something else? Tell me about it below! (And please feel free to suggest future topics.)
