The Cosby Show Openings: Strangely Hypnotic

Cosby ChrisWith the economy in the gutter, crime on the rise and people seemingly more stressed than ever, there is one thing that can save society from utter destruction: The Cosby Show.

Okay, maybe not. But it’s still one of the most beloved shows of the 1980s.

As unlikely as it may seem, it’s been 25 years since viewers were first introduced to the Huxtable family. Thanks to endless repeats on such networks as Nick at Nite, the series continues to gain new viewers. Here’s a heartwarming thought: at this very moment someone, somewhere is witnessing the antics that ensue when Denise decides to make Theo an imitation Gordon Gartrelle shirt for the very first time. Keeping that in mind, here are the various opening sequences from the beloved family sitcom’s eight seasons on the air. These clips showcase how the show and its cast changed over the years, for better (Sondra and Elvin always equal laughs) or worse (the dreadful Cousin Pam and Olivia characters). When watched back-to-back, these openings will transport you into a kinder, gentler place where there are always hoagies to hide and hideous sweaters to be worn all year long. Have yourself a pudding pop and check out the magic.

Here’s some serious dancing on your face!
