Based on Alan Parker’s acclaimed film, the 1982-1987 series chronicled the hopes and heartbreaks of students at the New York City of the High School for the Performing Arts. Debuting on NBC before transferring to syndication, the music-packed show was a 1980s sensation that featured several members of the original cast, including Allen, Gene Anthony Ray and Lee Curreri. Running a total of 136 episodes, it remains one of the decade’s best loved — if underrated — series’.
