We’ve recently been celebrating the films of 1985 here on MovieFanFare, and among the year’s best is Silverado. Director/co-scripter Lawrence Kasdan‘s rollicking salute to the Hollywood westerns of yesteryear follows four cowboys─a former outlaw (Kevin Kline), a falsely accused ex-con (Scott Glenn), his reckless younger brother (Kevin Costner), and a Henry rifle crackshot (Danny Glover)─as they come together to free the town of Silverado from a corrupt sheriff (Brian Dennehy). The film is packed with superb leading performances and a supporting cast that includes, among others, Jeff Goldblum, John Cleese, Linda Hunt, and, in an early role, Richard Jenkins.
