Who’s the Most Iconic Horror Character of All Time?

To quote the legendary Halloween III: Season of the Witch, “it’s almost time.”

Time for the trick or treaters, candy, parties, costumes and fun that this time of year celebrates. Which also includes horror films, obviously. For this final Open Thread before Halloween, we are turning the blog over to you. In the comments below, take a moment to tell us who you think the most horror character of all time is and why. The beauty is, there’s really no wrong answer here (unless you say like E.T. or something, and even then you wouldn’t be incorrect because that dude is absolutely TERRIFYING). Whether your choice be one of the Universal Monsters, Norman Bates, Freddy Krueger, Hannibal Lecter, Jason Voorhees, the Alien, Michael Myers, or any of the countless other cinematic creeps who have kept us up all night, these are all characters who have left an indelible mark on motion pictures. Not to mention our nightmares!

So who is the ultimate horrror icon? The choice, dear fiends, is up to you. Bwahahahahahahaha!

The Killer Tomatoes? The giant carrot from “The Thing from Another World”? Audrey from “Little Shop of Horrors”? Mom always said eat your vegetables. But what if they eat you first… shudder

  • Ken Rudolph

The two I would say are Mike Myers and the monster on “Jeepers Creepers.”

  • John

Of them all the one they just can’t seem to get rid of…besides perhaps Jason…is ol’ Drac himself. Just when you think he’s undead he gets up again (cue “Tubthumping”).
