Open Thread: What Are The Most Disappointing Sequels You’ve Ever Seen?

The weekend is upon us once more, which means it’s time for another Open Thread discussion! This time around, we want you to sound off on the most disappointing sequels you’ve ever seen. For me, this is a question with an easy answer: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Star Trek: Insurrection. Both of these films seemed to forget what made their respective franchises so great, and were bogged down by uninteresting storylines and frustrating character choices that left the audiences feeling let down. (Although this is just my experience with these particular films, you’re mileage may vary).

In the comments below, I encourage you to name the most disappointing sequels you’ve ever seen, and list some reasons why you felt so bothered by the way they turned out!

Hell, Chris, in my opinion Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom made Crystal Skull look like Casablanca. Rocky V is the biggest dud in the Rocky saga, although it had been going downhill all along. If it weren’t for the great music Blues Brothers 2000 would have been high on my list. I still watch it, but fast forward through anything that is not part of the music.
