Absolutely tragic news out of Los Angeles today: Director John Singleton, the pioneering African-American filmmaker who rose to fame for 1991’s ‘Boyz N the Hood has died at the age of 51 following a massive stroke that he suffered two weeks ago. Singleton was a true creative visionary whose work constantly spoke truths about life and race in America, making him one of cinema’s most important voices. It is unthinkable that this voice has now been silenced. We will be paying tribute to his life and work in the days ahead on this site, but we’d like to hear your thoughts on his filmography.
