When I was a naive teenager, I had some misguided issue with Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. You see, I was raised with the original Star Wars movies, and never paid too much attention to the Star Trek franchise. So when I originally saw the second Trek flick, I didn’t pay much attention to it, and wrongly dismissed it as being a “bad” movie.
Obviously, I couldn’t have been more wrong, as Star Trek II remains not only the best Trek film, but a watershed moment in science fiction cinema in general.
My point being here is that sometimes our initial reactions on movies can be dead wrong and utterly off the mark. Today I want to hear about what movies you initially dismissed only to have later changed your mind on, and the circumstances that led to you course correcting your feelings on, and why. Or, is there a movie you used to think was great that you now find unwatchable?
The beauty of being able to see the error in my ways has enriched my love of a sci-fi great, and I’m eager to hear your similar stories, whatever they may be!
