Movie Trailer of the Day: The Blind Side

Since a lot of you have football on your minds today, it seemed like the most logical choice to make this latest Movie Trailer of the Day post one that pays tribute to the sport. Originally released in 2009, The Blind Side presents the gripping life story of Baltimore Ravens left tackle Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron). Lifted out of the poverty of a Memphis ghetto by his talent on the gridiron, the withdrawn teen finds acceptance and a chance to better himself when he’s taken in by sassy socialite Leigh Anne Touhy (Sandra Bullock) and her loving family while he attends college. Based on the Michael Lewis book; Tim McGraw, Kathy Bates co-star. Here’s the trailer for this contemporary classic:

Upon its release, The Blind Side was an immediate critical and commercial success. The film brought in over $300,000,000 at the box office, and earned Sandra Bullock winning a Best Actress Oscar for her performance (she also won a Golden Globe, People’s Choice, and Critic’s Choice award, among others). While the film was also nominated for a Best Picture Academy Award, it lost to The Hurt Locker. Nevertheless, the picture continues to captivate sports fan and lovers of inspirational stories everywhere.

In other words, it’s an absolute winner.
