Stephen King’s “The Dark Tower” Rises Once More

Earlier this year, the eagerly anticipated film version of Stephen King‘s The Dark Tower hit theaters. Although a critical and financial disappointment, the film will likely stir up debate for years to come. The film’s complex plot can be summed up as followed: Plagued with visions of an otherworldly tower and its role in an imminent apocalypse, New York teenager Jake Chambers (Tom Taylor) had his family doubting his sanity. His problems would prove to be more than fevered imagination, as he was drawn into another dimensional plane…and an eternal struggle between world-destroying sorcerer Walter Padick, the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey) and determined nemesis Roland Deschain, the Gunslinger (Idris Elba). The film co-stars Katheryn Winnick, Dennis Haysbert, and Jackie Earle Haley. With the blockbuster success of It still grabbing headlines, it’s likely that The Dark Tower will be lost in the shuffle of the year’s releases. Will it become a cult sensation, or is it destined to be unappreciated? Only time will tell…

The Dark Tower is now available on DVD and Blu-ray, and we also carry the books in the saga.
