Celebrate the Solar Eclipse with This Clip from “Little Shop of Horrors”

With the country currently experiencing enormous excitement over Monday’s total eclipse of the sun, we thought we’d share with you our favorite pop culture depiction of the celestial event ever — the “Da Doo” song from 1986’s Little Shop of Horrors. In the film — which was based on the Off-Broadway musical which itself was inspired by Roger Corman‘s 1960 cult masterpiece — the man-eating Audrey II plant is transported to Skid Row during a solar eclipse. The “Mean Green Mother from Outer Space” subsequently attempts to take over the Earth one flower shop at a time. So I guess the lesson to be learned here is not only should you protect your eyes during the eclipse, you should probably also refrain from buying any weird and exotic plants for the foreseeable future.
