It’s Happening Again: The Return of Twin Peaks

For fans of David Lynch‘s mind-bending TV series Twin Peaks, today has been long awaited. For the first time in 25 years (since the release of the divisive follow-up film Fire Walk with Me) viewers will return to the titular Pacific Northwest town to learn the fate of Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan). To celebrate the show’s comeback, today is Twin Peaks Day on MovieFanFare. So grab yourself a piece of cherry pie and a mug of damn fine coffee (served hot, of course) and check out the posts we have waiting for you.

Kicking things off we have the iconic title sequence of the series, one that sets the offbeat mood of the Twin Peaks world perfectly. Featuring the music of composer Angelo Badalamenti (“Falling,” a version with detached, otherworldly vocals performed by singer Julee Cruise was released in 1990 at the peak of the show’s success). Watching these credits all these years later is still a compelling experience as they clue viewers in to the fact that Twin Peaks would be a show unlike any other…and it still is.
