The underrated 2007 Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez double feature Grindhouse featured several fake trailers between the main features of Planet Terror and Death Proof. One of these phony ads, for Machete starring Danny Trejo was eventually made into a full-length film that also spawned a follow-up, Machete Kills (we are still waiting for Machete Kills Again…In Space). What you may not have realized is that Eli Roth’s hilarious spoof of 1980s slasher horror films, Thanksgiving, featured in Grindhouse also almost transcended its trailer roots to become a feature. Sadly, this never came to be. If you are feeling stressed out by the holiday this year, just watch Roth’s bloody tribute to the holiday and enjoy the goofiness that his Thanksgiving provides.
