Great Movie Scenes: Goodfellas’ Long Take

On this day in 1990, Martin Scorsese‘s Goodfellas opened in theaters. Arguably the best movie about the mafia ever made (with apologies to fans of The Godfather saga), the film chronicles the rise and fall of gangster Henry Hill. In a moment packed with classic scenes — everything from the Morry’s Wig Shop ad to Tommy’s demise — perhaps the greatest from a technical point of view is the long take which introduces Karen to Henry’s glamorous world.
