Oh Rocky!: Some Thoughts On The Rocky Horror Picture Show Remake

Last night, Fox debuted the first five minutes of their remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Twitter. This new version of the 1975 classic (which has the unique distinction of being the most mainstream cult film ever made due to its enduring popularity over the past 40 years) is especially controversial given how beloved the original film is. While remake culture is prevalent throughout Hollywood due to reasons ranging from a lack of originality to a desire to cash in on the established popularity of an existing property, a new take on Rocky Horror seems about as easy to digest as the meal served in the film’s infamous dinner scene.

To this I say, relax. The original will still exist, and you can even still enjoy it in theaters every weekend at midnight screenings (you can find out more info on where at the movie’s official website). And, of course, the movie is available on DVD and Blu-ray so that you can give yourself over to absolute pleasure whenever you like.

So, what do you think? Even with Tim Curry‘s involvement — he plays the Criminologist this time around — will you want to watch the new Rocky Horror? Let us know below. It’s just a jump to the left!
