Tron, E.T., Blade Runner and Other Sci-Fi Films of 1982

Many genre fans consider 1982 the greatest year in the history of science fiction cinema. With films like Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, The Thing, Tron, Blade Runner, and E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial released during that period 40 years ago, it’s a hard point to argue. For this week’s Throwback Thursday video, I wanted to present this summer movie preview from Entertainment Tonight that showcases the now-legendary flicks that were released during that year of pure movie magic. No one could have known at the time of this segment’s original airing just how iconic each of the films featured here would go on to become. As such, it is a time capsule of a fascinating period in motion picture history when smart and innovative sci-fi would help lay the groundwork for the blockbusters yet to come.
