Six Pix: Rock Feature Films

Six Pix presents a sextet of movie posters representing a particular actor/director/genre. You pick the one you feel is visually the most artistic or best sums up the film.

Pump up the volume with this Six Pix!

Rock Posters

Included are: Viva Las Vegas (1964); Yellow Submarine (1968); Tommy (1975); Rock ‘n’ Roll High School (1979); Pink Floyd The Wall (1982); and Purple Rain (1984).

These are scripted films either starring or prominently featuring musical artists and their songs. Not included here are concert films nor documentaries. The King frolics in Sin City with Ann-Margret. Tommy, The Who’s rock opera, gets the Silver Screen treatment. Prince makes his film debut in Purple Rain. The Ramones “hey ho, let’s go” back to school. Pink Floyd breaks down The Wall. And an animated Fab Four all live in a…, well, you know. Those last three make for the best posters of the sextet. They have great graphics that capture the mood of their respective movies. I give an A+ to Rock ‘n’ Roll High School. Gabba gabba hey!
