Six Pix: Atomic Age Monstrosities

Six Pix presents a sextet of movie posters representing a particular actor/director/genre. You pick the one you feel is visually the most artistic or best sums up the film.

Creatures are big in this installment of Six Pix.

Movie Posters: From Atomic Age Movies

Included are: Them! (1954); Tarantula (1955); Attack of the Crab Monsters (1957); The Deadly Mantis (1957); The Killer Shrews (1959); and Attack of the Giant Leeches (1959).

Mother Earth goes mutant, no thanks to us meddling humans. These sci-fi posters depict menacing members of the animal kingdom. No doubt all these b movies leave something to be desired cinematically. That’s why the one-sheets are so important. Which does the best job of selling the film? For me, it’s down to the teaser-like poster of The Killer Shrews which leaves me with equal parts of dread and queasiness, and the action-packed frenzy of Them! Frankly, I have no idea what a shrew is, but going from the poster, I do not want to encounter a supersized “killer” one.

Which one do you think is the winner? Should I have included something else? Tell me about it below! (And please feel free to suggest future topics.)
