Six Pix: New York

Six Pix presents a sextet of movie posters representing a particular actor/director/genre. You pick the one you feel is visually the most artistic or best sums up the film.

Posters featuring the city of New York are up for debate in this installment of Six Pix.

Included are: Naked City (1948); West Side Story (1961); Mean Streets (1973); In America (2003); Manhattan (1979); and Cloverfield (2008).

It is almost impossible to choose a winner here. Bold colors vs. stark black & white imagery. Hidden themes vs. literal translations. Photo realism vs. illustrated artistry. The differing graphic design styles here are a joy to behold! Ask me again tomorrow which one I prefer and I’ll give you a different answer. But, for now—today, I’m going with the Saul Bass designed West Side Story.

Which one do you think is the winner? Should I have included something else? Tell me about it below! (And please feel free to suggest future topics.)
