The entertainment landscape was undergoing a seismic shift 75 years ago, as more people were staying home to enjoy such debuting TV series as Dragnet, I Love Lucy, and The Roy Rogers Show. In response, the movies of 1951 featured a diverse selection of releases. From innovative musicals (An American in Paris) and romantic adventure (The African Queen) to gritty, taboo-testing drama (A Streetcar Named Desire) and extraterrestrial thrills (The Thing from Another World), there was something for all ages and tastes.
