Earlier this month popular character actor and ’70s action hero Joe Don Baker passed away at the age of 89. Whether he was swinging a mean hickory club as Tennessee lawman Buford Pusser in Walking Tall, stalking victims as a brutal hitman in Charley Varrick, or coming to the aid of of James Bond as a CIA operative in Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies, the six-foot-three Texas native was adept at playing no-nonsense tough guys, either hero or bad guy.
