What’s Your Favorite Maggie Smith Performance?

On September 27th, Dame Maggie Smith passed away at age 89, leaving behind a long and enduring legacy of performances in movies and television, and on the London and New York stages, in a career spanning seven decades.

Having obtained Oscars for The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1969) and California Suite (1978), Emmys for My House in Umbria (2003) and three times over the run of Downton Abbey (2010-2015), and a Tony for Lettice and Lovage (1990), she became one of the rare recipients for acting’s Triple Crown.

Of course, for a generation of kids and fantasy fans, she’d always be the embodiment of the indomitable Professor McGonagall in the Harry Potter franchise.

Please vote for your favorite of her roles below, and feel free to share your observations about her career in the comments!
