Movie Trailer of the Day: Coal Miner’s Daughter

We were saddened to hear of the passing of country music legend Loretta Lynn, who died today at the age of 90 in home in Tennessee. For decades her songs of heartbreak and hope inspired transcended the country genre to bring her widespread acclaim, and inspired the acclaimed 1980 film Coal Miner’s Daughter. Based on Lynn’s autobiography of the same name, the powerful drama starred Sissy Spacek (who earned an Oscar for Best Actress for her performance) as the singer — chronicling her rough Kentucky childhood, her marriage at age 15 to husband Doolittle Lynn (Tommy Lee Jones), and her rise to Nashville superstardom. We recommend listening to some of Loretta Lynn’s music today and watching this biopic to honor the life of an artist who gave us so much.
