Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet Visit “The Movies That Made Me”

Adapting a beloved sci-fi masterpiece for a contemporary audience is a daunting task to say the least. You must create a program that both satisfies fans of the original work while also recontextualizing the material to reflect the current times. Showtime’s stunning series The Man Who Fell to Earth (based on Nicolas Roeg‘s 1976 classic starring David Bowie) accomplishes all these things and more through smart, engaging scripts and a top notch cast that includes Chiwetel Ejiofor and Naomie Harris that continues the story of the titular alien.

On the latest episode of The Movies That Made Me, series creators Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet discuss the show and the diverse works that inspired it with hosts Josh Olson and Joe Dante. For fans of science fiction, this is an unmissable conversation — one that can be further enjoyed by checking out Movies Unlimited’s companion page for the episode. The Man Who Fell to Earth is shaping up to be one of the most important genre shows of the decade, and I can’t recommend you listening to this installment enough.
