One of the motion pictures that helped establish the genre of film noir, Fritz Lang’s compelling The Woman in the Window brilliantly adapts J.H. Wallis’ novel for the big screen.
Originally released by RKO Radio Pictures on November 3, 1944, the film concerns psychology professor Richard Wanley (Edward G. Robinson) as he decides to pay take alluring model Alice Reed (Joan Bennett) up on an offer to visit her apartment while his wife and children are on vacation. However, he quickly discovers that his plans for a night of passion are, in reality, a nightmare as he finds himself thrust into a deadly blackmail plot that will forever and tragically alter the trajectory of his life.
Newly remastered in HD, the Blu-ray and DVD of The Woman in the Window will be released on June 19th by KL Studio Classics (special features include audio commentary by Film Historian Imogen Sara Smith and the original theatrical trailer). To see Lang, Bennett, and Robertson at their best, give this groundbreaking noir film a look.
