Create-A-Caption: The African Queen

1948’s The African Queen is director John Huston‘s classic blend of drama, action, and romance. The film stars Humphrey Bogart (who won his only Oscar for his performance) as hard-drinking boat captain Charlie Allnut, who takes aboard prim British missionary Rose Sayer (Katharine Hepburn) in WWI-era Africa. Determined to travel down a treacherous river to sink a German gunboat, the unlikely couple is drawn together as they set their seemingly impossible plan in motion.

Given the film’s status as a fan favorite that has stood the test of time, it is a perfect choice to get the Create-A-Caption treatment. So we’ve taken an image from it and added our own comedic comment, and you should do the same!

I said I would like another coffee, espresso this time. Are you even listening to me? Helllooooooo?

Be honest, now, Mr. Allsup. You slipped some coffee into my whiskey, didn’t you? I mean whiskey into my coffee…. Hmmm…

    This merits a twofer:

“Of all the boats in all the rivers in all the jungles, she walks into mine.”

“I’m so sorry, Mistah Ahlnoatt, but I do believe I swallowed a bug…”
