“Colossus: The Forbin Project” Gets Revived on Blu-ray

Before Wargames, before The Terminator, there was Colossus: The Forbin Project. Based on the novel Colossus by Dennis Feltham Jones, this literate and all-too-real sci-fi thriller focuses on a government-built supercomputer designed to control America’s defense systems. And when it links up with its Soviet counterpart, the human race will be faced with its ultimate challenge as the planet is now at the mercy of a powerful, self-aware machine that has an arsenal of nuclear weapons at its disposal. Eric Braeden, Susan Clark, Gordon Pinsent, William Schallert star.

We live in an age where computers have seemingly endless power, and we are so reliant on technology in our daily lives that those factors, combined with the ever-growing presence of AI and talk of a Singularity that will forever change the way man and tech interact. All of these things make Colossus: The Forbin Project a movie that was ahead of its time…and one that we hope isn’t eerily prescient.

Colossus: The Forbin Project recently hits Blu-ray from Shout Factory, complete with the following special features:

– NEW Interview With Actor Eric Braeden
– NEW Audio Commentary By Author Jeff Bond
– Original Theatrical Trailer
– Radio Spot

Despite being nearly 50 years old, this is a film packed with as many sci-fi thrills as it is intellectual food for thought, and even dashes of humor. Don’t miss it.
