This week’s batch of new DVDs and Blu-rays include an Academy Award-winning favorite, a spectacular sci-fi tale, a life-affirming drama, and much more. Whatever type of movie you are in the mood for, you’re sure to find something here to please you. So, with that in mind, here’s a look at what great titles are now available!

In late-‘50s Pittsburgh, middle-aged trashman and one-time Negro Leaguer Troy Maxson (Denzel Washington) remained bitter that he never got his shot…and his lingering resentments might drive a wedge between him and the teenage son (Jovan Adepo) with a legitimate shot at a football scholarship. Washington directs and reprises his Tony-winning performance; August Wilson adapted his Pulitzer Prize-winning play for the screen. Best Supporting Actress-winner Viola Davis, Mykelti Williamson, Russell Hornsby, Saniyya Sidney also star.

The thousands of occupants on a spacecraft headed towards a colonized planet were supposed to have spent the 120-year journey in suspended animation. However, an equipment malfunction woke crewman Jim Preston (Chris Pratt) with nearly a century to go. A year’s worth of isolation drives him to revive Aurora Lane (Jennifer Lawrence), and tell her she’s a victim of the same mishap. As a relationship blossoms, will he–or can he–admit to the truth? Stunning sci-fi saga co-stars Michael Sheen, Laurence Fishburne, Andy Garcia.

Collateral Beauty

After the loss of his young daughter, a once hard-charging Manhattan ad executive (Will Smith) withdrew into himself, solely communicating through bitter letters he mails to the cosmic forces of love, time, and death. Wanting to move on–with or without him–his business partners (Edward Norton, Kate Winslet, Michael Peña) engage a trio of out-of-work actors (Helen Mirren, Keira Knightley, Jacob Latimore) in a surprising gambit to bring him out of his malaise. Moving effort also stars Naomie Harris, Ann Dowd.

Anthony Hopkins stars in this unusual thriller as John Clancy, a retired doctor with psychic abilities who lives a solitary life in the wake of his daughter’s death and the dissolution of his marriage. Recruited by the FBI to help catch serial killer Charles Ambrose (Colin Farrell), Clancy begins to realize that, not only is the murderer also clairvoyant, his powers are far more advanced than his own. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Abbie Cornish, Sharon Lawrence, Janine Turner also star.

Domineering videogame company CEO Michèle Leblanc (Isabelle Huppert) was sexually assaulted within her own home by a masked intruder. Rather than go to the authorities, however, she cooly begins to investigate the men in her life that she views as potential suspects…and she pursues a shocking agenda once the rapist is cornered. Paul Verhoeven’s stunning, provocative thriller co-stars Laurent Lafitte, Anne Consigny, Charles Berling, Jonas Bloquet.
