X-Men: Apocalypse

In 1983, the ancient mutant En Sabah Nur (Oscar Isaac) awakens after thousands of years, ready to remake civilization by first destroying it. Recruiting four powerful mutants─including Magneto (Michael Fassbender)─to serve as his horsemen as he brings about his apocalypse, En Sabah Nur finds his plan challenged by Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and his team of young, would-be heroes. Jennifer Lawrence, Rose Byrne, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Evan Peters also star.

Sharknado: The 4th Awakens

Wait, tornadoes are scooping sharks right out of the water and whipping them around for the FOURTH time?! Well, now things are getting ridiculous. In the Syfy movie series’s most outrageous entry yet, it’s not just ravenous fish being flung through the air. This time, heroic Fin Shepard (Ian Ziering) has his chainsaw-wielding hands full dealing with a “hailnado,” “lavanado,” “cownado,” and many more. David Hasselhoff, Tommy Davidson, Gary Busey, and Tara Reid also star.

Into the Forest

In the Pacific Northwest, siblings Nell (Ellen Page) and Eva (Evan Rachel Wood) never had many complaints about the semi-isolated existence they knew in their father’s woodland abode. When the region is struck by a power outage–and it becomes increasingly apparent that a global calamity is the cause–the sisters have to tap uncharted depths within themselves for survival. Compelling parable adapted from the Jean Hegland novel co-stars Callum Keith Rennie, Max Minghella, Wendy Crewson, Michael Eklund.

Wild Oats

Eva (Shirley MacLaine), a widow and retired history teacher, enjoys a quiet life. Everything changes when she receives a life insurance check accidentally made out for $5,000,000 instead of the expected $50,000. At the not-so-gentle urging her best friend Maddie (Jessica Lange), Eva deposits the money and the two friends head to the Canary Islands with every intention of living it up. But their fantasy is short-lived when they discover that they have become media sensations overnight. Fugitives from justice, the two are forced to outwit a trio of conmen, led by the local Wine “warlord”, Carlos (Santiago Segura), outmaneuver a dogged life insurance agent Vespucci (Howard Hesseman) who has teamed up with Eva’s daughter, Crystal (Demi Moore), and outrun the law. What they don’t expect is to be good at it.

The Purge: Election Year

The third (and, reportedly, final) chapter in the successful film series finds former LAPD sergeant Leo Barnes (Frank Grillo) working as chief of security for Senator Charlie Roan (Elizabeth Mitchell), a presidential hopeful running on a promise to end the Purge. But as the 12-hour period of legalized mayhem begins, Barnes and Roan must try and stay alive on the streets of Washington, D.C. while pro-Purge forces try to eliminate the would-be POTUS. With Mykelti Williamson, Joseph Julian Soria, and Edwin Hodge.

Swiss Army Man

Alone and despondent after being shipwrecked on a Pacific island, Hank (Paul Dano) finds his last hopes dashed when a still form (Daniel Radcliffe) washes ashore…and turns out to be a corpse. Uncannily, the castaway’s new “acquaintance” comes to life–and displays amazing utilitarian abilities–as he accompanies Hank on an amusing and revelatory quest for survival. Winningly surreal buddy dramedy also stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Richard Gross.
