Remembering “Do the Right Thing” Star Bill Nunn

2016 dealt the entertainment industry, and indeed the world, another terrible blow over the weekend as beloved character actor Bill Nunn died of cancer at the age of 62 at his home in Pittsburgh on Saturday. Best known for his role as Radio Raheem in Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing, Nunn had a Hollywood career that spanned over three decades. (His first role was an uncredited appearance in Burt Reynolds’ Sharky’s Machine, and he was most recently a series regular on the USA network’s comedy Sirens). Other acclaimed roles include his appearances as Robbie Robertson in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, and as Eddie Souther in Sister Act. By all accounts, he was as charming off screen as he was on, and we have lost one of our finest character actors.
