Despite being a thrilling film in its own right, Tron: Legacy — the sequel to 1982’s cult sci-fi favorite Tron — wasn’t quite the franchise-builder Disney was hoping for when the movie hit theaters in December of 2010. Deeply weird and full of groundbreaking computer-generated imagery (just like the first film), audiences weren’t sure what to make of the sequel.
But just as the first Tron went on to become an underground sensation, the same thing seems to be happening with Tron: Legacy. There is still much demand for another film that would continue the adventures of Sam (Garrett Hedlund), Quorra (Olivia Wilde), Tron (Bruce Boxleitner), Flynn (Jeff Bridges) and company…and we may very well yet revisit the Grid in a future feature. Until then, we recommend you take a few minutes to enjoy a classical arrangement of Daft Punk‘s soaring main title theme for the film that was created and performed by musician Patrik Pietschmann:
The Tron: Legacy soundtrack is one of my all-time faves, so I love hearing new takes on the film’s riveting score. Besides, it holds me over until the next inevitable Tron film!
