Steven Spielberg‘s current success with Ready Player One proves that the powerhouse director still knows a thing or two about tapping into the pop culture zeitgeist. Arguably his most beloved film, with apologies to Jaws fanatics everywhere, is 1982’s E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial. The story of the Reese’s Piece’s-loving/Coors-drinking alien so touched the world during its initial release that it even inspired Neil Diamond to write the hit song “Heartlight” (yeah, the ’80s were weird).
For this week’s Create-A-Caption, we wanted to take the most-disturbing scene from the film — E.T. lying near death in a creekbed — and have some fun with it. We have added a comedic comment to this below, and we encourage you to do the same in the comments.
