As regular readers of MovieFanFare have probably noticed, we love science fiction films around these parts. Films like the original Star Wars trilogy and Tron as well as vintage classics like The Day the Earth Stood Still have become a regular part of our lives. As they most likely have yours. These movies have a deep cultural footprint, so it’s no surprise then that we find ourselves regularly quoting these flicks. Here are a few of our favorite sci-fi film quotes:
“Open the pod bay doors, Hal” – 2001: A Space Odyssey
“No. Be afraid. Be very afraid” – The Fly
“Roads? Where we’re going we don’t need roads” – Back to the Future
“The force will be with you, always” – Star Wars
“Wherever you go, there you are” – The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension
These are but a mere fraction of our favorites. But what about you? Tell us what sci-fi film quotes you like the most. And have you included any of these in your conversations? Have you included a sci-fi saying in a work presentation, or, more embarrassingly, while on a date? We want to hear all about your far-out favorite quotes below, and give us some context into how you’ve incorporated them into your vocabulary.
This post originally ran last November, we are reprinting it as part of our ongoing Summer of Sci-Fi series of posts.
