Pesci portrays the same greasy Italian-American role that he does in the mob films.\u00a0 However, this time he\u2019s a bumbling just-passed-the-bar-after-six-tries New York (Brooklyn, actually) lawyer who is called on to defend his cousin (<a title=\"Ralph Macchio\" href=\"http:\/\/www.moviesunlimited.com\/musite\/findresults_actor.asp?search=Ralph+Macchio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Ralph Macchio<\/a>) and the cousin\u2019s friend against an unjust murder rap in the sticks of Alabama.\u00a0 Pesci is at is cussin\u2019 best as he goes in and out of jail while trying to learn the ropes of the legal system under prim and proper Judge Chamberlain Haller (<a title=\"Fred Gwynne\" href=\"http:\/\/www.moviesunlimited.com\/musite\/findresults_actor.asp?search=Fred+Gwynne\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Fred Gwynne<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Vinny gets put in many hilarious situations in the film and writer Dale Launer makes the most of each with snappy repartee and comical interactions between the characters.\u00a0 One of the best is when Vinny meets his cousin\u2019s friend and co-defendant Stan for the first time\u2014in the jail cell.\u00a0 The dialog for the moment is as good as it gets in film comedies.<\/p>\n<p>More riotous exploits occur between Vinny and his fianc\u00e9e, Lisa, who accompanies him on the trip south.\u00a0 Lisa, who brings a seemingly endless wardrobe, is played brilliantly by <a title=\"Marisa Tomei \" href=\"http:\/\/www.moviesunlimited.com\/musite\/findresults_actor.asp?search=Marisa+Tomei+\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Marisa Tomei <\/a>who won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role\u2014unusual for a comedy.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s hard to figure if Pesci is acting or just playing himself in the films he has been in.\u00a0 The character he generally portrays is interchangeable whether it is comedy or drama.\u00a0 The only difference is in the dialog.\u00a0 Here it works with great success.<\/p>\n<p>My Cousin Vinny is a film you can watch 50 times and still enjoy (I know this from personal experience).\u00a0 It is one of Joe Pesci\u2019s best and should be a part of every comedy movie library.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A radio personality in Philadelphia was recently reviewing the work of Joe Pesci.\u00a0\u00a0 He ignored Pesci\u2019s comedic roles, instead focusing on his many \u201cmob\u201d turns in films such as Casino and Goodfellas.\u00a0 Big mistake.\u00a0 Pesci has played many funny characters,&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":19,"featured_media":7160,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[34],"tags":[],"coauthors":[],"class_list":["post-7135","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-staff-notes"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.5 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Joe Pesci And My Cousin Vinny<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"Joe Pesci And My Cousin Vinny - Is &quot;My Cousin Vinny&quot; Joe Pesci&#039;s best comedic roll?
