This week’s notable offerings including the first film based on a popular children’s book series, a special 35th anniversary edition of one of the most beloved films of all times, Universal Studios’ latest attempt to revive their popular monster franchise, and much more. Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

In order to keep from being permanently separated, fourth-grade pranksters George and Harold hypnotize their principal into thinking he\u2019s Captain Underpants, the superhero star of the comic books the boys created. Does the utterly powerless, would-be crimefighter have what it takes to foil the sinister plot of the dastardly Prof. Poopypants? Based on author Dav Pilkey\u2019s series of children\u2019s novels, this computer-animated tale features the voices of Kevin Hart, Thomas Middleditch, Ed Helms.<\/p>\n

E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial<\/em> (35th Anniversary Limited Edition)<\/a><\/p>\n

One of the most popular films of all time, Steven Spielberg’s science-fantasy epic is a wonderful fable for all ages. When an alien becomes stranded on Earth, he’s befriended by 10-year-old Elliott (Henry Thomas) who enlists the aid of his older brother Michael (Robert MacNaughton) and younger sister Gertie (Drew Barrymore) in an effort to help the extra-terrestrial get home. Dee Wallace, Peter Coyote also star. <\/p>\n

The Mummy<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n

Action-packed re-imagining of the horror classic follows tomb raider Nick Morton (Tom Cruise) as he discovers the sarcophagus of Princess Ahmanet (Sofia Boutella), an ancient pharaoh\u2019s daughter who sold her soul to the Egyptian god Set and murdered her family. Reawakened, Ahmanet places a curse on Nick and plans to use him to resurrect Set and wreak havoc on the modern world. With Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, and Russell Crowe as Dr. Henry Jekyll. <\/p>\n

Claudia Cardinale is a young landowner whose family falls victim to Fonda’s bullets, and Jason Robards and Charles Bronson are a pair of outlaws commissioned to bring him to justice. The Fox with a Velvet Tail<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

Stylish Italian\/Spanish giallo centers on Ruth (Anal\u00eda Gad\u00e9), a woman who leaves her husband, Miguel (Tony Kendall), and embarks on a relationship with Paul (Jean Sorel). She decides to spend the summer with her new lover at her beach house, where a series of near-death experiences and the conspicuous appearance of Miguel makes Ruth suspect that her spurned spouse is trying to kill her. When Mexican-born massage therapist\/healer Beatriz (Salma Hayek) encounters car trouble at the Newport Beach manse of kindly client Cathy (Connie Britton), she receives an invite to stay for the evening\u2019s dinner soir\u00e9e. However, her increasingly tense interactions with the other, oh-oh-one percenter guests–particularly, overbearing real estate developer Doug Strutt (John Lithgow)–might make for a few shocks by dessert.
