Brian Dennehy, the veteran character actor best known for his relatable everyman roles, has died at the age of 81 of natural causes. For five decades the Connecticut-born star of stage (he won two Tony awards for his theatrical work), movies and television charmed audiences in projects ranging from the F/X films to Tommy Boy to his recent work on the NBC series The Blacklist. Leaving behind an impressive body of work, Dennehy will be remembered as a performer whose greatest ability was to explore the human condition through whatever role he took on.
