Rip Taylor, the boisterous comedian, actor, voice actor, and game show staple whose trademark was throwing handfuls of confetti wherever he went endeared him to millions, has died at the age of 84. After early appearances on The Jackie Gleason Show and The Ed Sullivan Show, Taylor became an in-demand guest star in films and on TV — appearing in everything from The Brady Bunch Variety Hour to Amazon Women on the Woman — during his 50-plus year career. But Taylor, with with quick quips and ever-present toupee, truly came into his own in the 1970s with his appearances on game shows, including a stint as the host of the beloved The $1.98 Beauty Contest. Always entertaining and truly original, Taylor was a star who shone iridescently during his life. He will be much missed.
