A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…Star Wars was released. And the universe was all the better for it. With everyone playing Wookie hooky from their responsibilities this weekend to check out the latest entry in the installment, Rian Johnson‘s Star Wars: The Last Jedi we find ourselves thinking about how great it has been that the past three holiday seasons have also had corresponding new Star Wars movies (i.e. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The link between Star Wars and Christmas goes all the way back to the days of the original trilogy. After all, who can forget the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special or the Yuletide cash-in album Christmas in the Stars. We actually find those ill-fated projects to have their own unique charm, so it’s no surprise that we fell hard and fast for the Darth Vader Yule Log that popped up on YouTube a few years back. Taken from the funeral pyre sequence at the end of Return of the Jedi, this fantastic visual experience deserves to be a staple at your holiday get togethers. Why you can even build your own Christmas songs around it. (Darth Vader burning on an open fire, Wampas shivering in the cold…) Or maybe not. There’s no denying how cool this irreverent and nerdy take on the Yule Log is though, and it makes for an amazing early Christmas present.
